WEEKLY PARISH SUPPORT As you know we have not been making our minimum of $3000.00 weekly, needed to pay our bills. As we continue the summer with vacations, the beach and relaxation well deserved, we hope you will remember to send in your envelopes for the support of St. Martha Parish. Many families are away for the summer, but the bills of the Parish still need to be paid. The address, which is also listed on the front of the bulletin, is: 227 South Street, PO Box 1745, Plainville, MA 02762.
ANNUAL PARISH FAIR The annual Parish Fair is taking place November 21 and 22, 2008. The first working session of fair volunteers is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27th at 6:30 P.M. in the Parish Hall. Come one and all! Your help and presence is needed. As you know the success of our Fair is vital to our Parish. Thank you in advance for your support.
ARTS AND ENVIRONMENT New banners are hung, flowers appear and disappear from the Altar; green, red and white changes with the season, Holy Water is at the entrances. Who does that? The members of the Arts and Environment Committee are in need of new members to help with the Liturgical seasons, weekly watering or removal of items, etc. If you can spare a few hours of time even once a month call Marsha at 508-384-7883.

FIRST FRIDAY DEVOTIONS AT ST. MARTHA'S: Update: We are more than halfway there! To date we have 10 people who have committed to "keeping watch" with Jesus in our Chapel on every First Friday of the Month. But we still need a minimum of 8 more people to make our First Friday Devotion possible. Below is a list of the times that need to be filled in order for us to begin...
12:15-1:15 P.M. (2 people)
1:15-2:15 P.M. (2 people)
2:15-3:15 P.M. (1 person)
Consider if you are able to give one hour a month to Jesus in honor of His Sacred Heart and to make reparation for our own personal sins and those of the world. Some parishioners have already committed themselves to a particular hour of Eucharistic Adoration. Although several people were not able to commit to a definite time, they have made it their goal to stop by the chapel at some time on the First Friday of each month. We need everyone! It is a good start, but we are in particular need of people who are able to commit to the morning and early afternoon hours. Our First Friday Devotion could begin on October 3, providing each hour (9:15 a.m. through 6:15 p.m.) is covered by two people. If your circumstances permit you to help out, please call Charlene Harrison @ 508-695-2792.
